In search of a role model and mentor, Garo has been researching the life and art of Armen Ohanian, an enigmatic Armenian dancer and poet who lived turn of last century. Struggling to reconcile the gaps between Ohanian’s writings and the scarce biographical information, Garo begins unraveling questions about their own gender, sexuality, ethnicity, family, and the role of the artist. Monologue, Armenian dance, Erotic performance, and excerpts from Ohanian’s memoirs weave together a narrative that bridges a century of women and artists determined to live life on their own terms.
